I try not to let life get in my way....but I do have to say, when something effects my kids, well that will PISS me off!! My middle son has been studying like crazy to get his driver's license over the last few weeks.
Our state requires that all new applicants under the age of 18 attend a Drug and Alcohol Education Class. They even make it easy by venturing onto the world wide web with a website called Lowestpricetrafficschool.com . How much simpler can it be....he registers, gets moms credit card and pays the fee and logs in. The cool thing about this system is he can log out and break whenever needed. This course is suppose to cover four hours of instruction....so if he happens to finish the section before time expires....just sits and waits until the counter runs out. Whatever!!
Well being the caring mother I am I wanted to give my son every leg up in passing his DL Exam so we opted to buy a package that included the required course and a practice prep exam....they even offer to refund your money for the prep exam if you are able to pass it but still fail your DL exam. Hmmmm it became painfully obvious after my son passed the D&A course, why they offered a refund with the prep exam. For two solid weeks, he tried...I tried....hell we even tried taking the exam with the handbook....we could NOT pass the prep exam.
I finally told my son....screw it, just go ahead and log in and take your DL exam, you will do fine. So he logs in, again grabs my credit card to pay the $20. WOOOO HOOOO he passes...only missing one out of fourty questions. The system ask him if he would like to schedule an appointment to have picture made and pick up his license....are you fucking kidding, of course he does. He selects an appointment time for the next day after school.
I meet him at the bus stop and we cruise on over...he is beaming!! We inform the receptionist that he has an appointment, we give his name. She scans some papers and says she has no record of it. I inform her that we made the appointment online, she ask if it was through Lowestpricetrafficschool.com. I say yes...and she just shakes her head....figures, their system is pretty screwy...my son is beginning to figet, thinking he isnt going to get his licesne. Dont worry the lady says....we arent to busy, see the lady in lane two and she will help you.
We proceed to lane two....go through all the steps, get his picture made....I think we are done. The new lady ask to collect $20. I shake my head...no we paid online, and handed her my receipt. She doesnt reach for my receipt ....but is shaking her head just like the lady before...I am sorry honey she says...you got duped. What? I ask. You paid Lowestpricetrafficschool for your son to take the exam....not for the DL. If he had come here and taken the exam it would have been FREE, and then the $20 for the DL. I can not express how fucking PISSED off I was. No where on their website to they mention this.....
But what am I going to do....I pay the $20, and my son is proud as he walks out of the DMV with his new license...begging to drive us home. I went immediately my computer...pulled up the website....scoured it, making sure I didnt miss a disclaimer somewhere....and I hadnt!! I was going to let it go but then thought about the extra money I paid for the prep exam, the one that is impossible to pass!! and I got pissed all over again.
So I decided to shoot them an email....I located their contact us button. It directed me to a comments page where I filled in my name and email address....and gave permission for my comments to be display....hell yeah they can be displayed I want everyone to know what a rip off this is.
Below is a copy of the email I sent to them:
WOW....WHAT A RIP OFF!!! I can not say it enough. Outside of the required Drug and Alcohol class the services I purchased from you were a COMPLETE RIP OFF!! Thinking I was doing my child a favor we purchased the practice exam...I just do not believe anyone can pass that test, no wonder you have a money back offer with it. I even used the handbook while attempting to achieve a passing score and could not...money wasted on my part. Then I paid for my son to take the Permit Test online...NEVER not one time do you disclose that this is your fee and that I will find out I still have to paid another $20 to the DMV to get the permit...he could have tested at the DMV for FREE!!! This is desception on your part plain and simple. Oh and once he passed the online exam you offer we were offered the opportunity to schedule an appointment to have his picture made and pick up his permit....well no surprise when we get there there is no record of the appointment. According to the DMV it seems to be an ongoing problem with your service...that and you DO NOT disclose that you are charging $20 for a teenager to take their permit exam...which is FREE at the DMV. I am very upset and want my $20 back.
I got an auto response that said something to affect of Thanks so much for contacting us, someone will contact you shortly with a reply to your concerns or questions. We value your input.
Yeah right I figured....I just blasted you, like you are going to contact me!! lmao
Now they still SUCK ass in my book because they should disclose this kinda shit up front in my book....but I got an email today that said:
We apologize for any confusion. As a courtesy, we have submitted a$20 refund to the credit/debit card under transaction number ***********. If the refund is not posted on the credit/debit cardwithin 48-72 business hours, we recommend you contact the credit/debitcard company directly with this transaction number to track therefund. Please let us know if you need additional assistance. Thank you forchoosing LowestPriceTrafficSchool.com.
So for once raising hell paid off for me!!! It still pisses me off, but I got my money back. Yippee!! I think I am gonna need it to pay to insure my new driver. :)
